How the result is calculated
The catalog is extracted at build time from the n8n-nodes-base package (version 2.15.1): only the display name, node type, list of versions and whether it is a Trigger for 438 nodes, with no descriptions, parameters or any n8n text. Search: every word must match the display name or the type name, ranked by exact match, then prefix, then containment. The explanations (for 18 common nodes) are in our own words. When a workflow is pasted, each type is matched with the catalog and typeVersion with the latest version, and nodes not in the catalog are highlighted.
Limits:
The catalog holds names and versions only: no parameters and no descriptions (because of n8n’s “Sustainable Use” licence), and written explanations exist for only 18 nodes. It does not include
@n8n/n8n-nodes-langchain or community nodes, so those show as “not in the catalog”, which is not necessarily an error. The catalog is for version 2.15.1 and may go stale. Your installed version may not support the latest typeVersion. The explanations are general and no substitute for the n8n docs.FAQ
Why is a node missing from the catalog?
It may be from another package (LangChain), a community node, or removed.
Does n8n’s licence allow this?
We take only node names, types and versions (technical facts), not descriptions or code; check their licence if you have commercial use.
