(Bounce)
(Complaints)
Google Postmaster Tools.
List-Unsubscribe(والنقرة الواحدةList-Unsubscribe-Postوفق RFC 8058 مطلوبة من المرسلين الكبار).

Bounces and complaints are the strongest indicators of your list's health and your reputation as a sender. This guide explains what they mean, how to measure them and what to do.
Bounces
- Hard bounce: a delivery failure that will not go away, such as a non-existent address or a domain that accepts no mail. Remove the address immediately.
- Soft bounce: a transient failure such as a full mailbox, an unavailable server or an oversized message. Retry, then remove the address if it repeats.
Bounce rate = bounced ÷ sent. Many treat anything above roughly 2% as high and a reason to clean the list, but acceptable thresholds vary by provider and sector.
Spam complaints
These occur when a recipient clicks “Report spam”. Complaint rate = complaints ÷ delivered (calculation varies between providers). Gmail and Yahoo recommend that bulk senders keep it below 0.1% and never reach 0.3%. Your domain's rate at Gmail is visible in Google Postmaster Tools.
Common causes
- A purchased, old or non-consented list.
- Typing errors (
gmial.com) or disposable and role addresses. - Excessive frequency or content that does not match what people signed up for.
- Hard-to-find unsubscribe, so recipients hit the spam button instead.
How to lower them
- Collect with clear consent (double opt-in is preferable) and say what will arrive and when.
- Clean the list before sending and review bounces after every campaign.
- Make unsubscribing easy: a visible link and the
List-Unsubscribeheader (one-clickList-Unsubscribe-Postper RFC 8058 is required of large senders). - Segment your audience and send relevant content to each segment.
- Stop sending to the unengaged after a re-engagement attempt.
- Enable authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and register for providers' feedback loops where available. See the authentication guide.
Mind the sample size
30 complaints from 10,000 messages (0.3%) differ in reliability from one complaint in 300 (0.33%); small samples are volatile. Look at the confidence interval rather than the number alone.
