n8n Workflow Builder Wizard

Pick a trigger (Webhook, schedule or manual), list the steps (http, set, if, code, wait…) and the error handling to get a JSON ready to import into n8n with the latest typeVersion from the catalog.

Workspace

How the result is calculated

A step wizard, not free text. The JSON is built in order: the trigger node then the chosen steps; each node gets type = n8n-nodes-base.<name>, typeVersion = the latest version in the n8n-nodes-base catalog, a horizontal position at a 250 step, an id derived from the workflow name (stable on regeneration) and unique names. Connections go from main[0] of each node to the next; an IF node gets a NoOp node on its second (false) output. Minimal parameters only (n8n fills defaults on import). Error handling: retryOnFail with 3 tries for HTTP, or onError: continueRegularOutput for HTTP and Code. The Webhook path comes from the workflow name.

Limits: It does not understand free-text descriptions (that needs a language model): you pick steps from a list of only 8 nodes. The parameters are minimal and some come from my knowledge of n8n’s structure and were not tested by an actual import in every version, so try the workflow and complete credentials and URLs. No steps that need a credential (Gmail, Slack…). IF adds an empty false branch (NoOp). Check the output with our Workflow Validator tool.

FAQ

How do I import it?

Copy the JSON then in n8n: menu → Import from clipboard.

Why are the steps limited?

Each node needs correct parameters; we add nodes as we verify their structure.
