How the result is calculated
For each keyword itunes.apple.com/search?media=software is requested (up to 50 results) and the first 20 are used (games only if the option is on). Indicators: strong = share of apps with 10,000+ ratings; stale = last version more than 365 days ago; weak = average rating < 4; demand = min(1, log10(median rating count + 1) ÷ 4). Opportunity score = 100 × (0.35×(1−strong) + 0.25×stale + 0.20×weak + 0.20×demand). The weights are a stated editorial choice, not calibrated on data.
FAQ
What does a score of 70 mean?
A relatively higher opportunity than a niche scoring 40 under the formula, not guaranteed success.
Why games only?
To avoid general apps for the same word; you can turn it off.
