YouTube Description Formatter & Chapter Checker

Paste a video description to check the YouTube chapter requirements (first chapter at 0:00, at least three chapters, ascending, at least 10 seconds each) and the title (100), description (5000) and hashtag (3 above the title, 60 cap) limits.

How the result is calculated

Chapter lines are matched as m:ss Title or h:mm:ss Title. The rules applied (from YouTube documentation) are: the first timestamp 0:00, at least three chapters, ascending times, and every chapter at least 10 seconds. The description limit is 5000 characters and the title 100. The first 3 hashtags show above the title, and above 60 YouTube ignores all hashtags. Timestamp format is normalised (00:05 → 0:05).

Limits: The rules come from YouTube documentation and may change; the tool does not guarantee that YouTube shows the chapters (it depends on the video and settings). It does not check links or timestamps against the real video duration.

FAQ

Why are my chapters not showing?

Make sure you start at 0:00 and have at least 3 chapters 10 seconds apart.

How many hashtags?

The first 3 show above the title; keep to about 15 and never exceed 60.
