Static Link Checker

Paste HTML and a base URL to check links statically: invalid format, empty href, javascript:, duplicates, target=_blank without noopener, mixed content, missing #id anchors in the page and images without alt.

Workspace

How the result is calculated

The HTML is parsed with DOMParser and <a href> links and <img> images are extracted. Relative links are resolved against the base URL with new URL(). Checked: empty href or #, javascript:, mailto: and tel: format, URL validity, duplicate links (fragment removed), target="_blank" without noopener, #id anchors that do not exist in the same page, images without alt, and mixed content (an http image in an https page).

Limits: It does not check live response status (404 or 301) because CORS prevents reading it from a browser; it is a structural check only. Anchors are checked only inside the pasted HTML, not in other pages.

FAQ

Does it detect links that return 404?

No; that needs a server or command-line tool because browsers cannot read other sites’ responses.

Why a base URL?

To resolve relative links like /about and detect mixed content.
