Sort Lines

Sort lines alphabetically with Arabic or English collation, naturally (item2 before item10), by length, by numeric value or randomly, with a key column and stable ordering.

How the result is calculated

Alphabetical and natural sorting use Intl.Collator with the selected locale (so “ä”, “é” and Arabic follow language rules), and natural enables numeric so item2 comes before item10. “Code point” is binary (U+0041 before U+0061). Sorting is stable: equal items keep their original order. “By number” reads the number at the start of the key and puts non-numeric lines last. Random is a Fisher–Yates shuffle using crypto numbers.

Limits: Collation rules follow the browser’s language data (ICU) and may differ between browsers and versions. Random output comes from crypto.getRandomValues and is not reproducible. Descending reverses the same stable order (so ties are reversed as well).

FAQ

Why does item10 come before item2?

Plain alphabetical order compares “1” before “2”; choose “Natural” to treat digits as numbers.

How do I sort by a CSV column?

Pick the column number, delimiter and sort type.
