What Is My IP

Find your connection’s IPv4 and IPv6 address, whether you have dual-stack, the approximate location, provider and ASN, the address class (private/6to4/Teredo), plus browser info, through ipify and ipwho.is when you press the button.

Workspace

How the result is calculated

When you press the button, api.ipify.org is queried for the IPv4 address (with ipwho.is as a fallback) and api6.ipify.org for the IPv6 address; success of the second means IPv6 is reachable (both succeeding means dual-stack). Each address is checked to be of the expected version. Then ipwho.is/<ip> is queried for location, provider and ASN. The address is classified by the longest matching prefix in a table (private, CGNAT, loopback, link-local, documentation, multicast…, with 2002::/16 = 6to4 and 2001::/32 = Teredo, and others). Browser info is read locally.

Limits: Your connection (and so your IP) is sent to ipify and ipwho.is only when you press the button, and we store nothing. The location is approximate (city/region) and differs between providers; it may reflect a VPN server or the provider rather than your real place. The free ipwho.is quota is limited so it may fail at times. api6 succeeding shows IPv6 from your browser, not from your whole network. I could not verify the CORS behaviour of api6.ipify.org from my environment (it has no IPv6).

FAQ

Is my address stored?

We do not store it; the two external services receive your connection like any site you visit.

Why is the location wrong?

Geolocation data is approximate and may point to your provider or a VPN server.
