Merge Text Files

Merge several text files into one in your browser: reorder with buttons, UTF-8/UTF-16/Windows-1256 detection, a separator and header per file, and duplicate line removal across files.

How the result is calculated

Each file is read as bytes with FileReader, then the encoding is detected: a BOM for UTF-8 and UTF-16LE/BE, otherwise strict UTF-8, and if that fails it is decoded as Windows-1256 (legacy Arabic). Lines are split on \r\n|\r|\n and joined in the displayed order with the chosen separator and an optional ==== name ==== header. Duplicate removal drops a non-empty line that already appeared in an earlier file (it does not touch repeats within the same file).

Limits: Encoding detection is a heuristic: a file without a BOM that is not UTF-8 is assumed to be Windows-1256 and may be another encoding. UTF-16 without a BOM is not detected. Ordering uses buttons, not drag. Very large files use browser memory. Files are never uploaded.

FAQ

Are my files uploaded?

No, everything stays in your browser.

Garbled characters?

The encoding may not be UTF-8/Windows-1256; save the file as UTF-8 and retry.
